Shirts and Ties

FORMAL

Wing Tip Collar Dress Shirt
This classic shirt along with a bow tie are the proper underpinnings for a Prince Charlie jacket and waistcoat.
Color: White (only!)
Bow Tie

This classic speaks for itself. No “clip-on”s allowed.
Color: Black

SEMI-FORMAL

Shirt – Collared

This is where you may let your unique individuality show through (within reason). For example, a Hawaiian shirt would definitely not work.
Color: Any. Checkered patterns also can work.

Tie

Traditionally this tie is either a solid color that complements the tartan or it is a tartan same as the kilt. Use a short-length tie as the kilt rides much higher than pants.
Note: If a tartan tie is worn with the kilt, it must be worn along with a waistcoat, which acts as a visual barrier. Ties are cut at an angle, and having the same pattern at different angles in close proximity is akin to having a bad acid trip in the 60’s.

DAYWEAR

Jacobite / Ghillie Shirt

An informal, traditional shirt, it gets its Ghillie name from the same leather criss-cross pattern as is found from the brogues of the same name.
Color: Primarily white / off-white, they are available in several solid colors.
